  Level 2 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (E.F.A.W.)

Objective:

Level 2 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (E.F.A.W.) course is aimed at workplaces with lower risks and gives the First Aider the skills he, or she, needs to manage the situation and perform basic First Aid. The qualification is valid for 3 years and requires a full repeat of initial course to maintain the qualification.

This provides learners with skills and knowledge to deal with first aid situations in low risk workplace environments for the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 and the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations (NI) 1982 purposes.

 

Course Content: 

  • Understand the role and responsibilities of a first aider
  • Be able to assess an incident
  • Be able to manage an unresponsive casualty who is breathing normally
  • Be able to manage an unresponsive casualty who is not breathing normally
  • Be able to recognise and assist a casualty who is choking
  • Be able to manage a casualty with external bleeding
  • Be able to manage a casualty who is in shock
  • Be able to manage a casualty with a minor injury

Benefits:

This course enables the first aider to give emergency first aid to someone who has a minor injury or illness in their workplace.

Assessments:

Assessment is by continual tutor assessment, recorded in a candidate logbook, and a short multiple choice exam. and successful candidates receive a qualification that complies with the First Aid at Work Regulations 1981.
