CPCS 360 Excavator Training – 360 Degree Digger Training Courses (A58 & A59):
This category of CPCS Plant training is relevant to those using Diggers and Excavators in construction operations. CPCS training courses are designed to lead to Construction Plant Competence Scheme (CPCS) qualifications, which allow those holding a valid qualification to carry a CPCS card.
Within this category there are two sub-categories for excavator and digger training courses:
A58 – Excavator 360 degrees – Below 10 tonnes
A59 – Excavator 360 degrees – Above 10 tonnes
If you are looking to operate excavators above and below 10 tonnes it is best to choose the A59 category rather than the A58. This is because the A59 qualifies you to drive both machines.
Both the 360 excavator training courses must be completed at a registered CPCS centre. In addition to this delegates must have a successfully completed a core CSCS Health and Safety Touch Screen Test, passed in the last 2 years.
When choosing to complete the CPCS A58 or A59 – 360 Excavator training course, there are two categories to choose from. You can complete either category A: Tracked or B: Wheeled. The category details are shown below:
– A58 – Tracked 360 Excavator Below 10 Tonnes
– A59a – Tracked 360 Excavator Above 10 Tonnes (Please note – if you pass your test on a machine above ten tonnes you automatically qualify for below ten tonnes as well).
– A59b – Wheeled 360 Excavator Above 10 Tonnes, often known as a Rubber Duck (Please note if you pass your test on a machine above ten tonnes you automatically get below ten tonnes as well).
The A58 and A59 360 excavator courses tend to be a bit longer than the other CPCS courses. This is because they are complex pieces of plant and require in depth training and practice. Depending on your level of experience, Foundation or Novice courses might run over 8 days with testing on day 9, while experienced worker courses could run for 2-4 days.
The main aim of NPORS is to grant NPORS accredited training providers the ability to meet the needs of the company and provide satisfactory personnel.
The course will teach delegates how to operate the excavator safely and how to carry out various safety checks and procedures on the machine. It also teaches you how to understand the capabilities, functions and constraints of each machine, how to understand the instructions implemented by level pegs and profiles, and how to work to levels with the aid of laser equipment.
Variable depending on experience.
